Moore police are currently investigating a fatal shooting near Moore High School, a spokesman for the department said Tuesday.
Police Sergeant Todd Strickland said officers responded to an emergency call at 12:04 a.m. Tuesday morning at 124 S. Morgan Ave.. There, Strickland said, officers found a 19-year-old male on the living room floor. The youth had a gunshot wound to his stomach
“Five other persons were present inside the home and were taken to the Moore Police Department for questioning,” Strickland said.
Strickland said initial statements from those at the home reveal the group “had been drinking and began playing around” with a gun they did not believe was loaded.
“One of the individuals pointed the gun at the victim and pulled the trigger, shooting the victim in the stomach,” he said.
The victim — who remains unidentified — was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was pronounced dead.
Strickland said a search warrant also has been obtained for the residence.
