Family and friends celebrated the life of Donald Turner at a funeral service Mondat at Highland Baptist Church in Moore. Turner, 78, was born Aug. 22, 1929, in Missouri.
Don owned and operated glass shops in the OKC metro area and Texas; worked in insurance, real estate and was a contractor. He was a 32° Mason, C.O.B.R.A. past-president and a retired member of the Oklahoma Real Estate Board. Don was an active and founding member of Highland Baptist Church. Don will be remembered by his loved ones as a man of great faith, vision, and principle who walked through this life with strength and integrity, and has left a legacy that will continue to honor him in generations to follow.
“D.T.,” “Dad,” “Pappy, “ “Pappy Don,” and “Don” is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Shirley Ann Turner; children Gayla, Craig and wife Kathryn, Terry and “bonus children” Dan Vossen and wife Debra, Richard Vossen, Shannon and husband Kris Johansen, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many devoted friends, especially those at Highland Baptist Church.
Don was preceded in death by his parents “Boots” and Ovella Long-Turner, an infant brother, and sister Dolores Pitcock.
In lieu of flowers contributionsare encouraged to the Highland Baptist Church building fund. Services were under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
