Karen “Deanne” Ussery

Karen “Deanne” Ussery, 61, a resident of Weatherford, died Tuesday, May 15.

A funeral service was 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1320 SW 38th St. in Oklahoma City with burial following at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Services are under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary.

Mrs. Ussery was born Dec. 21, 1945 in OKC to Billy Gene and Bettie Fae Fowler. She worked as a librarian in the Metropolitan Library System for 23 years and was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Association and enjoyed singing in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnny Melvin Ussery; a son, Billy Gene “Chipper” Ussery; a son-in-law Kevin Heger; and her brother Michael Owen Fowler.

Deanne’s memory will be lovingly cherished by her daughter, Kim Heger of Hydro; her sister Susan Gae Long of Claremore; her grandsons: J.R. and Tyler Ussery; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was deeply loved, and “she never met a stranger,” her family said.
