The Moore Public Library will offer customers a chance to reduce their library fines and help their communities with Food for Fines week through Dec. 7.
The event is a part of a system-wide promotion by the Pioneer Library System.
On those days, customers may bring in canned food items for up to a $20 reduction of their outstanding library fines. These food for fines dollars do not count toward lost materials. Items must have current dates; have labels intact; and be in good condition.
“Each food item brought to the library will be good for a $1 reduction in fines up to a maximum of $20. Donated items will be given to local charities, food banks and community service organizations to be distributed to those in need during the holidays,” said Anne Masters, Pioneer’s CEO.
Moore Public Library will be partnering with the Brand Senior Center. The Brand Center provides Holiday Care Baskets to area senior citizens. Noble library will donate to the McGuire Community Foundation Inc. and Norman library will donate to the Salvation Army.
“Of course, we will also be happy to accept donations from people who don’t owe the library any money,” Masters added. “It all goes to help the community.”
Card holders can contact the library to see if they have fines or charges. They also can go online at www.justsoyouknow.us and check their accounts by signing in with their library card number and their personal identification number. For more information, contact your hometown library.
