Shelving and a few canned goods and toys have already arrived at the Cleveland County Christmas Store, 641 E. Robinson St., Norman.

In it's 41st year, the store is to help low income clients in Cleveland County have a better Christmas. Eligibility for the store is done and now the clients will work two hours at the store getting ready for shoppers.

Setting up wherever they can find a place, the old health department on Robinson Street is a blessing, said Charles Hollingsworth, chairman. The store will be at this location for at least five years.

"We received some grant money to fix it up and when I think of what we can do with that long hallway with so many rooms," Hollingsworth said.

"It will be perfect," he said. "There is one room for teenage boys, one for teenage girls and so on and there is a storage opportunity that we have not had before."

Donations may be dropped off at the store 9 to 11 a.m., and 1 to 3 p.m. through Dec. 5.

Money, new toys, new household items such as blankets, bedding, small gift items such as toasters, and non perishable food items are needed.

"We do not accept used items," Hollingsworth said.

"In 42 or 43 years, we have never had a paid administrative personnel," Hollingsworth said. "We are all volunteers and the only fundraiser we have is a campaign letter fundraiser."

"It is the biggest blessing we have had in a year," Hollingsworth said.
