When asked to teach a junior high Sunday school class, I was hesitant, at best.
For years I had taught first and second graders. They were always so full of life, eager to hear the Bible stories because they were new.

  • Tractor pulls back at county fairgrounds
    Tractor pulls will be held at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds at 615 E. Robinson St., Norman, on the first Saturday of each month, weather permitting, beginning Saturday. The pulls will be sponsored by the Canadian Rivers Old Iron Club (CROIC) of Norman.

  • Peek-a-bootique moves south
    Becky Hernandez and Jami Brookings pooled their talents three years ago and opened Peek-a-bootique in a small store in Old Town. They offer children's specialty apparel and gifts.
    They have been so successful in Old Town, they said, they have moved to a larger location.

  • Kiwanis honors Students of the Month
    The Norman Kiwanis Club recognized one adult and one high school student last week as Students of the Month. Selected students are enrolled at Moore Norman Technology Center and represent full-time career majors in business and information technology.

  • Military briefs
    Air Force Airman Kevin M. Payne graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
    He is the son of Michael and Kristie Payne of Oklahoma City. He is a 2009 graduate of Southmoore High School.
